Subtraction

Notes of Subtraction are presented below. Indepth notes along with worksheets.

 

(1)The difference between two numbers is called subtraction.

Eg:-

(i) 38 – 24 = 14

(ii) 19 – 9 = 10

(2) The number from which other number is subtracted is called minuend.

In example (i) 38 is minuend.

(3) The number which is subtracted from minuend is called subtrahend.

In Example (i) 24 is subtrahend.

(4) The result of subtracting one number from another is called difference.

In example (i) 14 is difference.

Subtraction can be done with two methods.

(i) Simple Method

(ii) Borrowing Method
